OneCare Vermont is working with state and federal leaders to identify flexibilities and support for Vermont’s health care provider community as they continue to serve on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Assuring that the health care delivery system can withstand the initial and future impacts caused by the COVID-19 pandemic is critical to maintaining Vermont’s health care system.

OneCare CEO Vicki Loner sent an urgent letter to Senators Patrick Leahy and Bernie Sanders and to Congressman Peter Welch on Tuesday of this week in support of the National Association of Accountable Care Organizations’ (NAACOs) recommendations to Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).

The recommendation from NAACOs and the nine national co-signers is that clinicians and organizations that are part of Advanced Alternative Payment Models (APMs) in Vermont should not face further administrative burden and financial loss because of their transition to value-based APMs. Loner also detailed additional measures, plans, and recommendations that OneCare in partnership with its state partners and regulators are looking to take to reduce the financial and operational strains Vermont health care providers are facing as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, while keeping the path open for Vermont to continue to move forward as a leader in health care reform.
